Emergency Preparedness

The Washington, DC NDTA Chapter looks for opportunities to contribute resources to local, state and national disaster preparedness organizations. This includes a Memorandum of Understanding with the Washington Area Red Cross Committee, comprising local Red Cross chapters in Washington, Arlington, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties. You can help the Red Cross and NDTA by providing information on resources which you and your employer can offer in times of need.

NDTA focuses primarily on offering our members' expertise to the Red Cross. This expertise covers transportation, distribution and other logistics functions.

During an emergency, and based on the Red Cross' requirements, DC NDTA will contact our members via a broadcast email. This will add additional resources, to those who have already submitted their personal data.

In addition to your own skills in logistics, additional help may be needed such as working in the Red Cross phone center. We hope you will consider helping in as many ways as possible. Finally, based on the level of the emergency, the Red Cross will also ask DC NDTA to find physical assets such as trucks, warehouses and other critical logistics components. We hope our members who control and can provide these assets will consider responding to our call.
